Modi must sack MJ Akbar: Owaisi

All India Majlis-e-Itteahadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) party president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi on Wednesday demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi sack M J Akbar from the Cabinet immediately.

"He has no respect for women. He should not be continued in such position," he said reacting to the #Metoo campaign in which Akbar's name figured.

Owaisi also asked the National Commission for Women and the police to take suo motu cognisance of the sexual harassment allegations against Akbar and initiate penal action against him.

He wondered how during the debate on Triple Talaq Bill in Lok Sabha, Akbar spoke loud about the Muslim women's rights and the need to protect them.

"He has no respect for women in reality," Owaisi commented. "Horrible! this bloody perpetrator @mjakbar shame on you and you stood in parliament during T Talaaq Bill & spoke about Muslim women empowerment & to stop their exploitation, @PMOIndia sack this minister of your's if you truly believe in Beti Bachao," Owaisi said on Twitter.
