Motor stir turns into bundh in Kerala

Last Updated 02 March 2010, 18:52 IST

Vehicles kept off the road and shops downed shutters as a section of traders too had joined the strike. Schools and educational establishments were given holidays and the ongoing annual examinations put off.

Barring a few cases of stone-pelting, the strike was peaceful.
In the assembly, the Opposition Congress-led United Democratic Front staged a walkout alleging that the Government had sold off rice allocated by the Centre for the noon-meal scheme in schools through the Civil Supplies Corporation.
