Motormouths likely to face music

Last Updated 08 November 2015, 20:23 IST
The knives are out in the BJP, with party president Amit Shah’s men seeking action against in-house motormouths like actor-turned politician Shatrughan Sinha who snubbed the party again for its embarrassing Bihar Assembly polls defeat.

BJP general secretary P Murlidhar Roa told a news agency that leaders like bureaucrat-turned-MP R K Singh and Sinha have done harm to party’s interest through their controversial comments and action will be initiated against them.

“The party would be acting against these kinds of people and it should be done, regionally and nationally. On the one hand, party workers were busy with the electoral preparations and on the other hand, these people hampered the image of their own party,” Rao said.

Rao was of the view that such statements led to the party’s loss in Bihar polls. “This is not acceptable to us, we believe that this loss in Bihar has a lot to do with all of those criticisms,” the general secretary said.

Leaders close to Amit Shah had said that action would be taken against Sinha and others after the Bihar verdict for publicly speaking against the party.

Even a section of the RSS also believes that action should be initiated against the leaders for giving provocative statements – a point reiterated by Moody’s analytics which in its recent report had cautioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi to reign in its leaders or face the prospect of losing domestic and global credibility.

Again after the results started coming in, Sinha tweeted, “congratulations to Laluji & Nitishji for this victory in Bihar elections. We bow before people’s mandate. It is the victory of democracy and the people of Bihar. I salute them. It appears that the issue of Bihari vs Bahari (outsider) has been settled once and for all”.

Sinha called for “introspection, modified and better strategy, teamwork and coordination in the future” which was like taking pot shots at the party top brass.

Arrah MP R K Singh, who had criticised the party’s ticket distribution prior to the polls, wanted responsibility fixed to be fixed. “There should be introspection.
