Centre wants to 'capture' judiciary, says Delhi CM Kejriwal on Kiren Rijiju's remark

He also termed Rijiju's recent remarks on the judicial system 'wrong'

Wading into the tussle between judiciary and union government, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal Tuesday accused the Narendra Modi dispensation of wanting to "capture" judiciary while finding fault with Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju's remarks, calling it "wrong".

In a tweet, "after having illegally occupied all national independent institutions in the country, now they (Centre) want to capture the judiciary. Public will never allow it. Such rhetoric against the judiciary is not right."

Kejriwal's comments came a day after Rijiju said that judges do not face public scrutiny as judges are not elected but people watch them and make an assessment about them from the way they deliver justice.

Rijiju had also questioned the collegium system of appointment of judges in the higher judiciary while Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar has found fault with the basic structure principle of Constitution and Supreme Court nullifying certain laws passed by Parliament.
