The Kerala government Monday announced that state government employees and teachers who take part in the nationwide strike slated Wednesday and Thursday will lose their salary.

This would become applicable only if the strike takes place, said an official release here.
The release said that all the heads of state government offices should see the offices are kept open and asked police to see that necessary steps be taken to provide security to offices and also to those who report for work.

It also said that the salary for the days that employees do not turn up will be deducted from the salary for March and asked heads of offices to provide a daily report on attendance by 10.30 a.m.

The Congress-backed state government employees union however has decided that they will not take part in the strike, called by central trade unions and other organisations.
