Yoga guru Ramdev Baba on Friday released a scientific research paper on 'the first evidence-based medicine for Covid-19 by Patanjali'.

Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari are also present at the event.

Ayush Ministry certification

Patanjali said Coronil has now received certification from Ayush Ministry as per the World Health Organization (WHO) certification scheme. "Coronil has received the Certificate of Pharmaceutical Product (CoPP) from the Ayush section of Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation as per the WHO certification scheme," said Patanjali in a statement.

Under CoPP, Coronil can now be exported to 158 countries.

Commenting on the development Swami Ramdev said, Coronil will help humanity while providing affordable treatment based on naturopathy.

On the basis of presented data, the Ministry of Ayush has recognised Coronil Tablet as medicine for "supporting the measure in Covid-19."

Earlier, Ramdev had alleged that Patanjali Ayurved is witnessing demand of around 10 lakh packs daily for its controversial Covid-19 immunity booster medicine Coronil.

In June last year, Ramdev had claimed that Coronil can cure Covid-19 patients. However, the AYUSH Ministry immediately put restrictions on Patanjali over selling it. Later, the Union ministry confirmed that Patanjali can sell the product only as immunity booster but not as a cure for Covid-19. The Madras High Court had restrained Patanjali from using Coronil trademark till July 30, over a petition filed by a Chennai-based company.
