Last Updated 20 July 2015, 19:03 IST

The Pakistani Army on Sunday night violated ceasefire again along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, drawing retaliation from the Indian troops.

Reports said the ceasefire violation began in the Shahpur Kerni sector of the LoC at around 11:05 pm, and continued for several hours.

The Indian Army retaliated, resulting in exchanges. However, there was no loss of life in the firing, added the reports.

There has been a spurt in the number of ceasefire violations by Pakistani troops along the LoC and the International Border since the beginning of this month.  On Saturday, five people, including three civilians, were injured in Pakistani shelling in the Kasba and Shahpur sectors. Meanwhile, in the wake of continuous ceasefire violations, General-Officer-Command (GoC), 16 Corps, Lt Gen K H Singh visited the forward area of Poonch to take stock of the security situation there.

Reports said he met with the local formation commanders and reviewed the prevailing situation along the LoC in Poonch.
