The controversial Lokpal Bill could at last see the light of the day in the current Parliament session, depending on the submission of the report by the select committee studying the legislation.

The panel is expected to submit its report on September 3, which would still give ample time for its submission in the current Monsoon session lasting till September 7.

The Bill was passed by the Lok Sabha last year, but got stuck in the Upper House following which it was sent to the select committee.

The committee, headed by Congress MP Satyavrat Chaturvedi, is currently examining suggestions made by political parties on the Bill.

It has so far collected the views of the Department of Personnel and Training, the Law Ministry and CBI on the proposed amendments.

If the amendments were to be made a part of the Bill, it would then be sent to both the Houses for approval. Despite passing it before, the Lok Sabha will have to deal with the Bill once again.
