The Rajasthan state Congress Committee chief Sachin Pilot has been made chairman of the party’s Pradesh Election Committee (PEC) for the upcoming Assembly polls, while former chief minister Ashok Gehlot will head the party's election coordination committee.

Sachin Pilot will supervise selection of candidates and distribution of tickets. However, Gehlot, who is AICC general secretary, has not been included in the election committee but will be responsible for streamlining the work of remaining seven committees.
A total of nine committees have been constituted for conducting the elections in Rajasthan. Leader of the Opposition in Vidhan Sabha, Rameshwar Dudi, has been appointed as the co-chairman of the election committee.
The coordination committee under Gehlot has chairmen of remaining eight committees as its members. The PEC headed by Pilot has 44 members.

BJP moves

The announcement by Congress party comes a day after Union HRD minister Prakash Javadekar on Wednesday was named as the election in-charge for the state BJP.
The union minister is believed to belong to the Amit Shah camp and those in Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje's camp do not see his appointment as favourable for Raje.
