Ram Temple: Seers plan mega rally on Dec 9

Pitching for the construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya without further delay, the Hindu saints have decided to immediately launch a nationwide campaign and organise a massive gathering of at least five lakh saints in Delhi on December 9, three days after the 26th anniversary of the Babri mosque demolition.

Questioning the delay in the construction of the temple here at a conference organised under the aegis of the Akhil Bharatiya Saint Samiti (ABSS), they demanded that the government either bring an ordinance or enact a law for the construction of temple in Ayodhya.

They also gave a clarion call to bring the BJP back to power again in 2019, saying they are happy with the steps “being taken” by the current government “to resolve the problems”.

“Either enact a law or bring an ordinance. It’s a dharmadesh (commandment) which is being given by saints after a gap of 5,000 years. There will be no compromise with this,” Jagatguru Hansdevacharya said, announcing the resolution passed by Hindu saints at the two-day conference which concluded on Sunday.

The conference saw participation of over 3,000 seers from across the country.

The ABSS will organise the next ‘Dharma Sabha’ on November 25 in Ayodhya, Nagpur and Bengaluru, apparently to mount pressure on the government for the construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya, the organisers announced.

“Now every individual and every child will light a diya (earthen lamp) at their home and temples for the construction of Ram Temple,” Hansdevacharya said.

A massive public awareness campaign for the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya will be initiated in at least 500 districts after Geeta Jayanti (December 18), he said.

Addressing the conference, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar favoured the construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya.

“There are three options available before the saint community — the first is to hold dialogue, second to appeal the Supreme Court for early hearing in the matter and third, the government takes a step. The saint community and the people of India want that Ram temple is built,” he said.

He also picked up the issue of Sabarimala temple, suggesting that tradition should be followed.

The spiritual guru hoped that the apex court will review its judgement on the issue, keeping in mind the "sentiments" of the people.

Saints also deliberated on the issue of cow slaughter and called upon people to come forward to stop killing of cows in the country. They also demanded that the government set up a new ministry for protection and care of cows, and bring a tough legislation to curb cow slaughter in the country.
