Sacked AAP minister plays victim card

Last Updated 10 October 2015, 20:12 IST

Sacked Delhi minister Asim Ahmed Khan on Saturday said he was a victim of Aam Aadmi Party’s “internal politics” and stated that another party member’s voice is also heard in the audio clips used to implicate him on graft charge.

The MLA, sacked on Friday as food and supplies minister by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, claimed at a press conference that the “other person” in the audio clip is Shakeel Malik who was now being shielded by the party.

After the press conference, Khan’s supporters gathered outside his Daryaganj residence and shouted slogans against Kejriwal.

“The question arises, if one voice is that of Asif Ahmed Khan in the CD, whose is the other voice who was named as the middleman. The one who is being called the middleman is not a common man, not a builder and not a media professional. He is the AAP’s minority wing vice-president and Delhi Minority Finance Corporation Director Shakeel Malik,” said Khan.
Khan said he was being “sacrificed” by the party which wants to “save somebody else”. “Why was his name not revealed?” he added.

Khan denied either asking or accepting bribe from a builder. “Can’t we not talk to our own party leaders? He (Malik) is a senior leader.” He asked why was the other party leader’s name being hidden from the media.

Kejriwal sacked Khan for allegedly taking bribe of Rs 6 lakh from a builder in Matia Mahal constituency.
