The Supreme Court on Thursday expressed its satisfaction over the progress in the Gujarat riots cases probed by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) saying that out of nine cases, six cases are already over.
A three-judge bench presided over by Justice H L Dattu took on record the latest status report submitted by the SIT on February 27.
“There have been a lot of progress and out of nine cases, six are over and three are at almost final stage,” the court said in a brief proceeding.
The court also refused to entertain a fresh request for issuing direction for conducting day-to-day trial saying that it had already passed an order for it; repeating the same would be redundant.
The bench, also comprising Justices Ranjana Prakash Desai and M Y Eqbal, posted the matter for further consideration on August 26.
