'Send AAP leader to rehab'

Last Updated 02 August 2016, 18:31 IST

Three Lok Sabha members have demanded that controversial AAP member Bhagwant Mann be sent to a rehabilitation centre for drug and alcohol de-addiction before being allowed to attend House proceedings.

Mann has been asked by the Lok Sabha Speaker to stay away from the House till a committee examines his action of videographing his entry into the Parliament premises across security barriers and posting the video on social media.

“We would be grateful if Bhagwant Mann is sent to a rehab centre for drugs/alcohol de-addiction on Lok Sabha expenditure and it is only after that he should be allowed to attend proceedings of the Lok Sabha,” BJP member Maheish Girri, Akali Dal member Prem Singh Chandumajra and expelled AAP member Harinder Singh Khalsa said in a letter addressed to the Committee examining Mann’s conduct.

The nine-member committee, chaired by BJP member Kirit Somaiya, is mulling “stringent action” for “exposing” the security of Parliament by filming his entry into the building.
