Sidhu removed from Kapil Sharma show

Last Updated 17 February 2019, 02:13 IST

Congress leader and Punjab minister Navjot Singh Sidhu has been dropped from the Kapil Sharma Show for his comments favouring continuation of dialogue with Pakistan.

Sidhu's reaction after Thursday's suicide attack on CRPF convoy in Pulwama has come under fire on social media platforms.

On Saturday, media reports said 55-year-old Sidhu was removed from the popular comedy show. However, there was no confirmation from broadcaster Sony Entertainment Television, producer Salman Khan, SK TV or presenter Kapil Sharma.

The cricketer-turned-commentator-turned-politician had been a regular feature on the show hosted by Kapil Sharma, the comedy king, except for the break he took during elections.
Replacement

According to reports, Sidhu is to be replaced by actress, TV host and reality show judge Archana Puran Singh.

While condemning the Pulwama attack, Sidhu said: "Can an entire nation be held responsible for a handful of people."

Earlier, he had faced criticism for attending the swearing-in ceremony of Imran Khan as Pakistan prime minister and hugging their Army chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa.
