West Nile fever in North Kerala

One case of West Nile fever was reported from Malappuram district in North Kerala.

A seven-year-old boy was infected by the virus about a week back and is now undergoing treatment at Kozhikode Medical college hospital.

District medical officer Dr Sakeena said that the virus was very uncommon in Kerala. No cases of West Nile fever were reported in recent times in any part of the state. The people need to be cautious against mosquito bites. Fever and headache are early symptoms.
