Eminent sports and legal personalities took part in the panel discussions on preparing India for global events, gender discrimination in sports, importance of transparency in corporate structure of professional sports leagues, issues relating to infrastructure in developing and maintaining stadiums and training facilities.
Most of the speakers said India had inadequate law to regulate sports and sports governing bodies. Nariman discussed about a Delhi HC ruling terming it “very positive”, which ordered for allowing the public to scrutinise the functioning of the organising committee of the Commonwealth Games by bringing it within the purview of the RTI Act.
