R'sthan: Textbooks to have chapter on Pulwama martyrs

Textbooks in Rajasthan schools will soon add a chapter on CRPF personnels who attained martyrdom in the recent terrorist attack in Pulwama of Jammu and Kashmir on February 14.

In the wake of the Pulwama attack, Rajasthan education minister Govind Singh Dotasara has asked the Rajasthan State Council of Educational Research & Training (SERT), to include a chapter on Pulwama martyrs in the textbooks published by Rajasthan Board of School Education.

"The bravery tales of the Martyrs need to be told across. Their sacrifice should not go waste. If we can a chapter on Surgical strike , why not on martyrs ", Dotasara told DH.

However, the chapter will be included after the recommendation made by the minister is approved by the textbook reviewing committee formed by SERT. There are two reviewing committees in which academicians have been asked to review the changes made by the previous BJP government in Rajasthan. The report of the same will be submitted in the third week of February.

Apart from this, the Rajasthan education minister has also directed schools to dedicate Bal Sabha's to the sacrifice of martyrs. "We have started a culture of Bal Sabhas in which school students in villages along with their teachers visit panchayats and play informal witty games and get general knowledge briefings. But the next Saturday in the Bal Sabhas we will be talking about the sacrifise of martyrs", Rajasthan education minister Govind Singh Dotasara added.

Five of the 40 jawans who lost their lives in a CRPF convoy attack at Awantipora in Pulwana of Jammu and Kashmir are from Rajasthan. The Congress government in Rajasthan has announced that a public place such as, schools or public hospital, health centre or park, panchayat building, roads and road will be named after the CRPF Jawan who attained martyrdom during an attack in Pulwama on Thursday.
