TTD braces for temple cleaning

The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) officials and chief priest Venugopala Deekshitulu inspected the arrangements for the ensuing "Astabandhana Balalaya Maha Samprokshanam" starting from Saturday with Ankurarpanam.

"Astabandhana Balalaya Maha Samprokshanam" is the unique religious ceremony of a comprehensive cleansing of the temple complex including the sanctum sanctorum

Speaking to media persons, TTD executive officer Anil Kumar Singhal said, the religious fete which is observed once in 12 years is scheduled to conclude on August 16.

"Today we have inspected the arrangements of Homa Gundams in Yagashala for the fete and the queue line arrangements. As announced earlier the importance will be for Vedic activities during these days and darshan will be provided to pilgrims based on the limited time available every day," he added.

Earlier, JEO KS Sreenivasa held a detailed review meeting with senior officers on Maha Samprokshanam along with all the chief priests of Tirumala temple at Annamaiah Bhavan.

Later speaking to media he said, for darshan on August 11, pilgrims will be allowed to enter into the queue lines only from midnight of August 10.

"Keeping in view the limited space available for darshan during this period, the devotees are requested to plan their pilgrimage accordingly," he said.
