Potholes pose danger to vehicle users

The huge potholes on National Highway 173 that passes through Mudigere taluk is inconveniencing the motorists.

The NH 173 from Kadur-Mudigere Handpost has become a treacherous stretch following the numerous potholes that pose danger to the travelling public.

The surface of the highway has chipped off at Bilagula, Handi, Hostare and Aladagudde.

The motorists have a harrowing experience while travelling from Ganganamakki to Handpost.

Even the private vehicles are refusing to travel on the stretch. The stretch provides connectivity to the hospital, horticulture college and Krishi Vigyan Kendra.

Auto driver Mahesh said, “If we travel on the stretch once, we need to send the vehicle for repair. As a result, many of the auto drivers refuse to drive on the stretch. We travel on the stretch only in case of emergency.”

All the vehicles travelling to Sakleshpur, Beluru, Kalasa and Kudremukh have to use this stretch. It takes more than half an hour to cover a distance of 2-km from Mudigere to Handpost due to the prevailing situation.
