Ram Temple, opposition alliance top agenda for BJP-RSS

Last Updated 24 October 2018, 21:40 IST

Ram Temple construction, opposition alliance and performance of the state government are the main focus of the coordination meeting between the BJP and RSS leaders here on Wednesday.

BJP national president Amit Shah, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, senior RSS leaders were present at the meeting, which also discussed the state cabinet expansion and the strategy to counter rebel saffron leader Praveen Togadia, who had announced that he would form a political outfit and contest the next Lok Sabha polls in 2019.

According to sources in the state BJP, Shah asked leaders and workers of the party to take the achievements of the NDA government to the people in the rural areas.

The sources said that RSS leaders expressed concern at the lack of coordination among the party workers at the grassroot level and also asked the state government to take immediate action in cases of caste based conflicts.

''The government must ensure safety of the women and the members of the weaker sections of the society,'' said a senior state BJP leader quoting deliberations at the meeting.

The sources said that the RSS also stressed the need to pacify the restive saint community over the delay in the construction of Ram Temple at Ayodhya. ''Although the party is committed to abide by the court verdict, we should also try to send across the message that we are for the Ram Temple and that there is no attempt to delay it deliberately,'' the leader said.

The sources said that the state cabinet was likely to be expanded next month and some new faces were likely to be inducted in the ministry.
