They cleared the heaps of trash in and around the Talacauvery for two days. The trash was collected from the steep slopes and thick forest near Talacauvery and the surroundings of the temple.

In addition to collecting trash, the members went around and educated local shopkeepers and temple staff on the importance of keeping nature clean and trash free.

Kodagu for tomorrow also took up the responsibility of sending the trash collected to recyclers.

A senior coordinator of Kodagu For Tomorrow said, “Talacauvery is our holy place. We appeal to the people not to litter in the place and maintain the sanctity of the place.”

Alcohol bottles, cigarette packets and used diapers were found thrown near the temple.

“Our dream is to make Talacauvery free from trash and plastic. Sophistication is not owning expensive cars and branded clothes. It is all about how we act as a responsible tourist and citizens in maintaining holy place clean,” he added.
