Some succumb to heart diseases, diabetes and depression. </p><p>Now, who would have thought that noise pollution could have severe impacts? </p><p>Research has claimed that it is as dangerous as some of the other potential life-threatening issues. </p><p>A recent analysis by the European Environment Agency (EEA), which focuses mainly on noise from cars, trains and aeroplanes, reveals that 20 per cent of people in the European Economic Area are affected by it. </p><p>Another research disclosed that 40 per cent of the UK population were exposed to harmful transport noise.</p><p>A major misconception is that the engines of the vehicle cause noise and that electric cars can fix the problem. But what is surprising is that the friction between the tires and road is what causes the disturbance.</p><p>Analysis shows that health issues related to noise contribute to the economy a huge sum every year. </p><p>It is an issue has not deserved much attention, but as per the World Health Organization (WHO) statistics, an estimate of 150 million people are exposed to noise disturbances across Europe.</p><p>“Noise pollution impacts our health by keeping our bodies in a constant state of fight or flight, even if we don’t consciously realise it," said EEA's environmental noise expert Dr Eulalia Peris.</p><p>EEA’s executive director Leena Yla Mononen said children are also vulnerable.</p><p>"Children are also particularly vulnerable to the effects of noise, and it’s a problem all countries need to address urgently," Mononen said.</p>
