Dear Roald Dahl,
.
I am writing to tell you that I am a very big fan of your books. I love how every line has a sense of humour in it and how your imagination is endless.
.
Your characters always teach us good lessons like how we should stand up to people — such as in ‘Matilda’.
.
I like some of your fun characters such as Willy Wonka, the chocolate making genius, and some of your utterly revolting characters too! One of the things that make your books even more exciting is your ability to make up words.
.
You are absolutely right when you say that “nothing is ‘um’possible when it comes to making up words”! When you dream up your stories and put them on paper, your readers are hooked by the first word. You are truly a great author and I cannot wait to read more of your books!
.
Ruslana Dsouza, 11
Bengaluru, Karnataka
.
----------------------------------
.
Dear Ruskin Bond sir,
.
I hope this letter finds you in good health and high spirits.
.
I can’t believe I am writing a letter to my favourite author! It is my privilege and honour to be writing a letter to a versatile author who has written a wide range of stories.
.
It all started with a 12-year-old me reading your iconic book ‘Room on the Roof’. I have been a huge fan ever since! Every time I walk into a bookstore, I search for your books.
.
The best thing about you Sir, is that you capture everyone’s hearts with your stories, from kids to grandparents, from youth to the middle-aged. Another interesting pattern I have noticed in your stories is that they are closely related to nature.
.
I got to learn about a lot of plants and animal species through your books and I must admit that it has boosted my general knowledge.
.
The characters in your stories are very relatable. For instance, Romi is relatable for his teenage behaviour and aggressive nature.
.
Your stories help me analyse my own character and correct my behaviour. It’s as if I am the character and the story is revolving around me.
.
My mom has been a huge fan of yours since her childhood. I wish we could meet one day. It would definitely be an amazing experience!
.
Warm regards,
.
Vignesh S, 14
Bengaluru, Karnataka
.
----------------
.
Dear Holly Jackson,
.
I really love your work. ‘A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder’ completely changed the way I think about mysteries. I would like to thank you for the countless hours of joy and suspense your books have given me.
.
Pip’s story is really gripping and unforgettable. She is flawed. She is a protagonist who is like a friend, someone we care about and most of all, someone we learn from.
.
This book makes me reflect on justice, humanity, privilege and mental health in a different way. You have built an incredible world with this book and its sequels — something truly epic and absolutely fantastic.
.
Thank you for creating stories that linger in the mind long after the final page is turned and characters we will never forget.
.
All the best,
.
Niveditha H, 13
Bengaluru, Karnataka
