<p class="title">A long-cherished dream of local hoopsters will be realised when the Beagles & BBMP Indoor Basketball Stadium in Malleswaram is inaugurated here on Saturday.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The Rs 7.21 crore Beagles Club facility, built to develop young hoopsters into good basketball players, is nearing completion. The establishment is expected to open in the next two months and will be maintained by the club in association with BBMP.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The stadium will be open 18 hours a day throughout the week and can accommodate up to 1200 spectators. It has a gym and the dome is designed to extract maximum light from the sun, providing natural lighting to the court, which has a wooden flooring of about 18,000 sq feet.</p>.<p class="bodytext">"This is the biggest gift for the basketball fraternity," said Olympian Dilip Gurumoorthy at a press conference on the eve of the inauguration. "We are very happy to have a stadium like this," he added.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Dilip also assured that he will take the responsibility of grooming the youngsters. "When I started there was no coach for me. Now the way of doing things have improved. It is more scientific. We are going to select a young lot and train them."</p>.<p class="bodytext">Beagles have ambitious plans to set-up an e-learning sports facility that will constitute a digital library and other online learning aids for players and coaches.</p>.<p class="bodytext">MLA CN Ashwathnarayan, who inspected the facility, said, "We have constructed the stadium keeping international standards in mind. We don't want any state players to be deprived of playing opportunities in the future." </p>.<p class="bodytext">The land on which the stadium is built hosted the Beagles Basketball Club for over four decades.</p>
