<p>Bengaluru: Joshua Kiprui Cheptegei, the reigning world record holder in 5000 and 10000m, will headline a star-studded field in the 17th TCS World 10K Bengaluru on April 27 with the event already oversubscribed in the regular category.</p>.<p>Ugandan Cheptegei, one of the dominant long-distance runners of this era having won three consecutive World Championships gold in 10000m and an Olympic gold over the same distance at Paris last year, returns to compete in Bengaluru after a 11-year gap. The three-time Olympian had finished second in the 2014 edition which was his international debut too.</p>.<p>The Indian challenge will be led by defending champions and event record holders Kiran Matre and Sanjivani Jadhav in the men’s and women’s sections respectively.</p>.Boxing Federation of India postpones elections, say impossible to complete process within original time lines.<p>“I’m excited to be racing at the TCS World 10K Bengaluru, a prestigious event that has consistently attracted top talent from around the world,” Cheptegei said in a statement. “Road racing has always been special to me, and I’m looking forward to giving my best on this course in front of India’s passionate running community.</p>.<p>“I would like to think India is lucky for me as I made my international debut here and I hope to deliver a strong performance.”</p>.<p>While Cheptegei’s participation has given the organisers a huge fillip, what brought more joy to their faces was the event being oversubscribed in the regular 10K category which slots now open only in the 5k Majja Run.</p>.<p>“Last year we had 25,000 participants and this year we expect 30,000,” Vivek Singh, Joint MD, Procam International, said at a press conference on Wednesday. </p>
