Saujanya sets new mark

Athletics Bangalore University meet : Al Ameen, Govt Women's College bag overall titles

Al-Ameen College, Bengaluru and Government Women’s College, Kolar, won the overall title in the men’s and the women’s categories respectively in the 52nd Bangalore University inter-collegiate athletic championship, which concluded at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium here on Saturday.

Al-Ameen clinched the top honours with 63 points.
In the women’s segment,  Government Women’s College emerged comfortable winners with 56 points. 

In the men’s half-marathon, Solanki of Sheshadripuram College nailed the gold in 1:11:16.5, bettering the pervious best of 1:13.13 set by Arun M N of RBANMS College in 2006.

In the women’s section, Saujanya of Bishop Cotton Women’s Christian College won the 100M dash.

Saujanya clocked 12 seconds flat to finally obliterate a 45-year-old record of 12.10 seconds set by Nirmala Uttaiah of Mount Carmel College in 1971.
