<p>Seven-time Formula 1 World Champion Michael Schumacher was Sunday taken to a hospital in France after being injured in a skiing accident.<br /><br /></p>.<p>The 44-year-old was taken by helicopter to a hospital in Moutiers.<br /><br />Christophe Gernignon-Lecomte, director of the Meribel resort, told Radio Monte Carlo Sport: "He was shocked, a little shaken but conscious. It may be a head injury but it is not very serious."<br /><br />"He was wearing a helmet and banged (his head) against a rock," the director added.<br /><br />Schumacher is also one of the most popular F1 drivers ever. He retired for the second time at the end of 2012.<br /><br />The German started his career with the Benetton team in 1991 and won consecutive titles with them in 1994-1995. The glorious period of his career came with Ferrari as he won five titles with the Italian outfit from 2000-2004.<br /><br />His second coming in 2010 did not reap much success as he finished on the podium only once in three seasons while driving for Mercedes.<br /></p>
