The Janata Dal (Secular) and the Congress may have formed the government in the state, but for the elections to the Rajarajeshwarinagar Assembly seat on Monday, they are arch rivals. Workers from both parties parked themselves 100 metres away from polling booths, urging voters to vote for their candidate.
The RR Nagar seat has turned into a prestige issue for the Congress and the JD(S). Only 54% polling was recorded by the end of the day.
Ramappa, a voter in Malathahalli booth said, “I’m sure that this election too, not many people will come out and vote since it is a weekday.”
