Assembly staff protest for pending salaries

Last Updated 26 October 2018, 19:59 IST

Over a dozen Legislative Assembly secretariat staff staged a protest outside Speaker K R Ramesh Kumar’s office in the Vidhana Soudha on Friday demanding payment of salary dues.

Over a 150 staffers were appointed earlier this year, but they have not been paid salary ever since. Also, there are allegations that appointments were made illegally. “Those who have received appointment orders are getting salary, but I’m told by the Finance department that there’s a problem due to the new Khajane 2 treasury software. The issue will be sorted out in 15 days,” Ramesh Kumar told reporters. “If there are illegalities in the appointments, I will ask the officials to take action.”
