BJP to felicitate those imprisoned during Emergency

The BJP, on July 6, will felicitate those who participated in the struggle during the national emergency and were jailed by the Indira Gandhi-led Congress government.

Making this announcement, MP Suresh Angadi told reporters that the BJP observes June 26 as 'Black Day', in remembrance of the struggle against the Congress government led by Indira Gandhi, which had imposed national emergency 43 years ago.

The BJP, to create awareness among youth about the emergency has been conducting various seminars. Those who had been imprisoned during the emergency were being identified and felicitated, he said.

Angadi claimed that BJP was the only true democratic party in India wherein a commoner like Narendra Modi can become prime minister.
