Bus mishap: Compensation to kin of victims on Dec 7

Minor Irrigation Minister C S Puttaraju on Thursday said, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy will distribute Rs five lakh compensation cheques to the kin of the Kanaganamaradi bus mishap at Vadesamudra village in Pandavapura taluk on December 7.

Addressing media persons here, Puttaraju said, the chief minister had visited the spot of mishap, consoled the family members and announced a compensation of Rs five lakh to the family members of deceased. The district administration has released Rs 1.50 crore in this regard, he said.

Steps have been taken to construct a protection wall at the vulnerable places at all the lakes, ponds and canals, to avert such mishaps. The Transport officials have been instructed to stop plying private buses that are not road-worthy. Necessary measures would be taken to avert such mishaps in future. Stern action would be taken against the negligent officials, he warned.

Godowns for paddy

Arrangements have been made for the farmers to supply paddy to the nearest godowns. The good quality paddy would be procured at Rs 1,770 per quintal and Rs 1,750 for the regular paddy. The officials have been told to make a list of godowns. The farmers should avail tokens and supply paddy, he said.

MySugar arrears

The MySugar factory has to pay arrears of Rs 12 crore to the farmers. The government has released Rs 10 crore. The factory has been directed to pay the dues to the farmers immediately. The chief minister has also warned the private sugar factories to pay the dues within 15 days, he said.

Mandya MP L R Shivaramegowda, JD(S) district president Ramesh were also present.
