The state Cabinet on Wednesday approved a detailed project report prepared by RITES for implementing 440 km of suburban rail network for Bengaluru.
Briefing reporters after the Cabinet meeting, Law Minister T B Jayachandra said the project is estimated cost Rs 10,949 crore. The plan is to have a suburban rail network between Bengaluru and Mandya, Bengaluru and Yeshwantpur, Yeshwantpur and Tumakuru, Yeshwantpur and Yelahanka, Yelahanka and Baiyappanahalli, Yelahanka and Chikkaballapur, Yelahanka and Doddaballapur, Bengaluru and Bangarpet and Kunigal and Soladevanahalli.
He, however, refused to disclose how the government is planning to mobilise funds for the project. The Cabinet also approved a proposal to lease out BBMP property measuring 50x28 sq ft in Agrahara Dasarahalli to Sri Muneswara Temple Trust for 30 years.

*Procuring medical equipment and furniture for various government-run health institutions at a cost of Rs 22 cr
*Upgrading tertiary cancer care centre in Mandya at a cost of Rs 56.18 crore
*Construction of Basaveshwara museum at Kudalasangama in Bagalkot district and taking up developmental works at Basavana Bagewadi at a cost of Rs 44.94 crore
*Providing free laptops to SC/ST students in first grade colleges (for first year students), government polytechnics and engineering colleges
*Withdrawing all police cases filed against farmers agitating over the Mahadayi issue
