CBI inspects stockyards in Bellary

Mine owners and exporters were issued notice

A team of officers from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) met mine owners and visited mines and stockyards across Sandur and Hospet taluks on Thursday.

The officers, who came to Hospet on Wednesday night, continued probing the theft of ore at Belekeri port in Uttara Kannada district and collected information.

The team, led CBI DIG R Hitendra and Superindent of police Subramanyeshwara Rao has more than 12 officers.

The team began its investigation at around 11 am and visited R R Minerals, Vaddara Nagappa Mine area, Venkatagiri Iron Ore Mines, SVK Stock Plot, Muneer Enterprises, SVM Plot, Sesa Goa Plot, Balaji Enterprises and Yerriswamy Stock Yard in Hospet and also visited stockyards in Jayasingapura mine area in Sandur taluk.

Many mine owners, exporters and ore transporters who had received notice from CBI lined up to meet the officers at Amaravati Guest House both in the morning and evening.

They spoke about their problems and submitted documents pertaining to the theft case.

Sources said that the team would continue its investigation on Friday and would visit many more stockyards, apart from the heads of certain organisations.

The officers of Revenue, Mines and Geology, Forest and Police departments were present on the occasion.
