A section of the city engineers has claimed credit for Google dedicating the Doodle on Saturday to Sir M Visvesvaraya, on his birth anniversary.

Nagamangala Narasimha Murthy, an engineer and freelance writer, said, “Google search engine usually shows respect on birthdays and birth anniversaries of great men on its cover page through the Google Doodle. However, Sir MV’s birth anniversary, which is celebrated as Engineer’s Day, was ignored by Google earlier. On realising this fact, we took up the matter with Chetan Krishnaswamy, country head-public policy, Google India. Chetan is a native of Mysuru and is the grand-nephew of late R K Narayan”.

“I asked some of my like-minded friends to tweet to Chetan to consider our suggestion for at least this year. I am happy that Google considered my humble request to show respect to the great engineer. Some of my views and suggestions have been incorporated in the design of the Doodle,” he said.
