Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy is chairing a meeting of all top bureaucrats to review and expedite various government projects before the model code of conduct for the Lok Sabha polls kicks in early next year.

“We have only 3-4 months left before the Lok Sabha polls are announced. Our focus must be on project implementation and development,” Kumaraswamy told regional commissioners, deputy commissioners and chief executive officers at the beginning of the day-long meeting at Vidhana Soudha here Tuesday.

The six-month-old Congress-JD(S) coalition headed by Kumaraswamy is under fire from the opposition BJP for not having taken off, with Congress legislators frowning that development works have been stunted.

Kumaraswamy is expected to pull up officials during a review of his pet ₹45,000 crore crop loan waiver.

“There’s no shortage of money (for the waiver). What’s important is how successful you’ve been in getting information from banks,” the CM told officials.

Kumaraswamy, his deputy G Parameshwara and other Cabinet ministers are expected to also review the drought situation, the rehabilitation of the flood-hit Kodagu, integration of the Arogya Karnataka and Ayushman Bharat schemes among others.
