CM visits Sulvadi, promises help to poisoning victims

Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy visited Sulvadi village in Hanur taluk on Tuesday evening, and instilled confidence among the family members of those who died after consuming the prasada of the Maramma temple.

He promised all government benefits to the families of the victims, including sites and houses for the
homeless.

The chief minister, who reached Bidarahalli from Maddur taluk in a helicopter, spent more than 30 minutes with the affected families.

The chief minister said, “The incident was unfortunate, but the police have arrested the suspects. Already Rs 80 lakh has been released to the families of the deceased from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. Steps are being taken to distribute agriculture equipment from the Department of Horticulture at a cost of Rs 35 lakh. The deputy commissioner has extended all help to the affected,” he said.

The chief minister announced starting a high school in the region from the next academic year for the benefit of students.

The minor irrigation department has been directed to implement schemes at a cost of Rs nine lakh, Kumaraswamy said.

The primary health centre at Sulvadi would be upgraded and all facilities provided, Kumaraswamy added.
