Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy on Thursday said his government would soon introduce job melas once every month.

The Chief Minister’s Office will be directly involved in organising the job fairs. Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru, Kumaraswamy said that scores of people had been approaching him during the janata darshans, seeking employment.

On Thursday morning, Kumaraswamy was approached by a woman from Davangere, seeking his intervention. The woman, A C Shaila, who has lost her right arm in an accident has been finding it difficult to fend for her two small children and her mother, without a job.

Upon learning that Shaila had earlier worked as a typist, the chief minister instructed officials to immediately recruit her in government service. The CMO has arranged for her recruitment on outsource basis as a typist in the Department of Information in Davangere.

The government has also recommended disability pension for her. Kumaraswamy said, “The government’s shouldn’t restrict itself to merely evolving policies. It should be benevolent. My government’s priority will be to protect families that are enduring abject poverty. The government will not restrict itself to waiving farm loans,” he said.

He has also called for mandatory introduction of Scouts and Guides in all government schools. Kumaraswamy, who held a meeting with the delegation of Bharat Scouts and Guides led by state chief commissioner PGR Sindhia, said there was need for introduction of Scouts and Guides in all PU and degree colleges.
