Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy on Tuesday announced a financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh for the treatment of two infants suffering from the rare Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) disease.
As both their children were born with this genetic condition, Deepa and Yenkappa Pujary of Saundatti taluk in Belagavi district approached Kumaraswamy on Tuesday for help.
In addition to the treatment cost, Kumaraswamy directed the Saundatti government hospital to employ Pujary on a temporary basis.
The EB disease results in easy blistering of and pain in the skin and mucous membranes.
