Denotification case: Congress demands BSY's resignation

Gowda said that Yediyurappa had denotified the land acquired by Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board for personal gain

The state Congress on Sunday sought the resignation of Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, following a High Court order in the 2012 land de-notification case.

Congress leader Krishna Byre Gowda said that Yediyurappa had denotified the land acquired by Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board for personal gain.

The High Court, last week, quashed an order of the special Lokayukta court - which, in 2016, had dismissed a complaint filed against Yediyurappa, he said.

"The CM will now have to appear for questioning as a charge sheet was already filed against him in the past. People in responsible positions should not misuse their powers," he said, adding that Yediyurappa's continuation in power will obstruct investigation into the case.

"That is why Yediyurappa must resign," Byre Gowda said.

He targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP leadership for turning a blind eye to such affairs and demanded that they seek Yediyurappa's resignation in the wake of the High Court order.
