Eco-tourism Centre to open in Kolar soon

The Centre is already under construction in the horticultural park in the reserve forest area at Antargange region in Maderahalli. The village is about six kilometres away from Kolar City.

Feel of the wild

The horticultural park is at the bottom of the Maderahalli hills. The construction of the new Centre was started here without much ado in the area which spreads to five to six kilometres.

New posts with interesting information about plants and animals with pictures are already being put up in the area. A rest house is built in the park and cement chairs, swings and slides are also put up. Construction of toilets is being carried on.

The Centre is being constructed to give a natural feeling for travellers. In order to ensure that the travellers get an experience of the forests and hills in the region, the boulders are left untouched. Sources informed Deccan Herald that the Forest Department also aims to build roads circling the hills.

The boards put up in the Centre have various information about flora and fauna. Information regarding animals and birds from all over the world is to be found on these boards.

In addition, there is picture and matter about the butterflies found especially in Kolar. Pictures of more than 12 butterflies from the district can be found on the boards, making the Centre not just a place for fun and relaxation, but also for knowledge.

Travellers from Bangalore will have a great experience here. People who wish may rest in the Centre. Enthusiasts can make a trip of the hills behind the Centre.

It is said to be a coordination between maintaining the ecology and making the place visitor-friendly.

Attempts to fulfill

Special care is being taken in this direction by the deputy forest protection officer Anil Kumar Ratan, said a member of the forest department. Both elders and youngsters should enjoy and learn from the place equally.

The Centre is being constructed at an expenditure of Rs 3.5 lakh. The project was proposed to cost Rs 15 lakh and Rs six lakh has already been disbursed.

Construction is being carried out simultaneously with the fund release. Sources inform that the Centre will be open for visitors by next year.
