Literary festivals electrify people in Chikkaballapur

The literary and cultural scene in Chikkaballapur district  has once again been enlivened after the conclusion of the District Sahitya Sammelana in May.

Literary festivals being organised in various taluks in the district has provided the much-needed forum for literary enthusiasts, writers and poets.

While Shidlaghatta taluk literary festival concluded on Monday, the festivals are yet to be organised in the taluks of Chikkaballapur, Chintamani, Gauribidanur, Bagepalli and Gudibande.

Presidents of district and taluk Kannada Sahitya Parishats have decided to conclude all the literary festivals by January 15 and prepare for annual elections to the Parishat.

“While the Chikkaballapur literary festival will be organised in December 31, the literary meet will be conducted on January 6 and 7 at Chintamani. Gauribidanur will host the festival on January 7 and 8.

However, the dates of festivals to be held in Bagepalli and Gudibande remains to be finalised,” said District Kannada  Sahitya Parishat president S V Nagaraj on the occasion.

Government College of Education Principal Prof Kodirangappa has been selected to preside over the  Chikkaballapur Taluk Kannada Sahitya Sammelana to be conducted on the premises of Kendriya Vidyalaya in the city.

The literary festival will be inaugurated with the unfurling of national flag at 8 am.
Legislator K P Bachche Gowda will inaugurate various programmes at 10 am.
Tahsildar N Bhaskar and others will participate in the literary festival.

Love in the air

Poems on dimensions of love were recited by poets on the occasion of literary fest in Shidlaghatta. Love was above any caste or religion or any boundaries in the poems recited here.

Some of them also depicted the present politics and described Lokayukta, Lokpal, Anna Hazare through their poetry.

Poetry is an important form of art, which plays important role in shaping youths personality, said Saraswathi, Principal of Saraswathi Convent School, who presided over poets meet.
