The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) here on Monday has announced the candidature of M R Vasudeva from Mangalore Lok Sabha constituency. Vasudeva is retired as the director of Mangalore International Airport.

Addressing a press conference here, AAP National Executive Prithvi Reddy said that it is a honour to field a candidate of such an academic brilliance and a hard work. “Our fight is against corrupt system and not against any one political party. This is just the beginning and we have already won it in Delhi. Good people like Vasudeva should enter into politics to bring in changes in the system,” he said.

Reddy claimed that there was no Modi wave in the country. The people of Gujarat who live on the outskirts of an industrial area do not have basic facilities. He is spending crores for the publicity, but preventing people from visiting the place. He is not ready even for a public debate on the development, he said. “The Aam Aadmi Party will contest from 13 Loka Sabha constituencies in Karnataka. We have received around 300 applications for the candidature. There is no confusions in the party ,” Prithvi Reddy added.

Reddy said that AAP President Arvind Kejriwal will arrive Bangalore on March 15. He will participate in a road show and interaction programme. On March 17, he will participate in a public rally at Freedom Park. Kejriwal would visit Mangalore during his second phase of campaign.

‘DK a dumpyard’

Vasudeva said that it is the time to fight against corruption politically. “Dakshina Kannada has been neglected by the State and Central governments. The National Highway and critical arterial roads are in shambles. The Mangalore Port has remained neglected. The district is being projected as a dumpyard. If we don’t fight for our rights, nobody else will do. I will fight the election to send this message at least,” he said.
