The ‘Smart Digital City’ project, which will digitise the properties, electric poles, lamps, UGD systems in all the wards under the City Municipal Council (CMC) jurisdiction, was launched in the city on Wednesday.

Addressing media persons, Smart Digital City Project engineer Sandeep Sharman said the project has been taken up at an estimated cost of Rs 30 lakh, funded by the CMC, and would be completed within four months. After complete digitisation, the details of the properties, number of electric poles with lights in the 31 wards of the city and others will be available at the click of the button. With this, online complaints can be attended in a day, as there will no delay in identifying the spot, he said.

Other benefits of the project include maintenance of roads, check on encroachment of public roads and also assistance while laying new roads.

About 25 employees are required for the project to complete it on time. With this project, about 50 per cent of the properties left out by the CMC can be tracked, which in turn will help improve revenue collection.

The complete details of the UGD, its length, breadth and height will be collected. As GIS name boards will be installed, there will be no confusion on the house numbers, ward numbers and others.

The CMC vehicles will be installed with GPS facility to ensure maintenance of cleanliness and hygiene. As the project is being scientifically implemented, digital master data can be availed, which will be of great help in the development of the city and also
during of action plans, he added.
