Two youth stabbed in Davanagere

A youth stabbed two people in Azad Nagar, in Davanagere on Sunday night.  

The victims, Imran (19) and Jilan (21) who were seriously injured, have been admitted to S S Hitech hospital.  Durgesh, the accused has been arrested.    

As soon as the news of the attack spread, hundreds of people gathered at the scene of the crime giving rise to anxious moments.  High-ranking police officers visited the spot, cleared the air and restored calm.  

Davanagere Superintendent of Police Dr Bhima Shankar Guleda has appealed to people not to post seditious messages on social media and warned that people provoking unrest will be severely dealt with.  

Later the SP clarified that the accused Durgesh was not an activist of any religious or political outfit and had committed the crime in a drunken state of mind.  

Azad Nagar, Koracharahatti and other sensitive areas are currently under strict police vigil.
