Kolar tahsildar S M Mangala has been transferred “with immediate effect”, and the Bangarpet MLA, M Narayanswamy  is planning to stage a protest demanding the transfer of Tahsildar Dakshayini.

Mangala who assumed office as Kolar Tahsildar on March 20, 2009, is known to handle issues effectively. But she has been transferred even before completing 18 months in the post, and is yet to be given a new posting.

Mangala’s transfer came on the heels of the surprise visit of the district in-charge Minister A Narayanswamy to the taluk on Saturday. After the minister’s visit, Mangala left for Tirupati along with her family members when her transfer order was issued on Sunday.

To her shock, Mangala found that First Grade Officer, Muniveeraiah had already assumed charge of her office when she returned on Monday.

Mangala’s sudden transfer and ordering a first grade officer to take charge has raised many questions. But, Mangala, obviously upset is not making an issue out of it.

“I will abide by the government order. But it would be a hindrance to my children’s education, as the order has come in the middle of academic year,” she told Deccan Herald. Moreover, that she has not yet been given the change of place has added to her woes.

In Bangarpet

Bangarpet Tahsildar Dakshayini, known for her no-nonsense ways being seen as “hurdle” for development by the Legislator Narayanaswamy.

The legislator is learnt to have told Congress workers at a meeting here on Monday, to stage a protest on October 8 demanding the transfer of the Tahsildar. The workers have also planned to seek the transfer of executive officer of the Taluk Panchayat.

The Congress workers have levelled serious allegations such as misappropriation of funds under Aradhana Yojana and creation of fake documents in the name of Kolar Gold Fields MLA Y Sampangi and his relatives.

While the allegations on the officer are yet to be proved, the legislator’s demand for her transfer has taken people by surprise.
