A five-year-old girl was washed away by huge waves at Someshwara beach near Mangaluru on Monday, reports DHNS from Mangaluru. The deceased has been identified as Maitreyi Ketkar (5) of Bengaluru. She had come to the beach along with her parents Chintamani Ketkar, Shraddha Ketkar and sister Gargi Ketkar (7). They were hit by a huge wave when they were playing in the beach. Though the lifeguards rescued all the four, Maitreyi did not respond to the treatment and died.
