JOIN USThe Government has proposed to build three lakh houses with an estimation cost of Rs 1 lakh per house to the families displaced due to the floods.
Ranganath, governing council member of Association of Consulting Civil Engineers said that the organisations had submitted five different design patterns which are cost effective.

"Right now we have only submitted our analysis on the quality and quantity aspects of building these houses, the estimation of the cost involved has not been touched upon yet," Ranganath said.
He added that the organisations had suggested various plans of row houses, clusters and individual houses which concentrate on designs, quality of foundation and walls.
The type of soil prevailing in those regions also adds to the type of construction which needs to be looked upon.
