JOIN USA woman was arrested on charges of trying to sell a baby near K R Hospital here on Saturday. The arrested has been identified as Jayamma, wife of Gangaiah, from Mallannakoppalu in Maddur taluk, Mandya district.
Jayamma was found seeking alms with a baby girl on the footpath near K R Hospital on Saturday. Two unidentified persons are said to have approached Jayamma and asked her to sell the baby.
However, Jayamma informed them that the baby wasn’t her’s and she found the baby three days back near Mandya railway station. When the unidentified duo promised of money, Jayamma is said to have demanded more.
Meanwhile, K R Hospital security personnel Uma witnessed the scene and questioned Jayamma about the baby. While the duo fled the scene, Uma informed the cops at Devaraja police station of the incident.
Even though Jayamma fled from the scene, Devaraja police were successful in nabbing her in the evening. The baby has been handed over to Bapuji Children’s Home.
