The championship has been organised jointly by the Karnataka State Football Association and Mysore District Football Association.

First half

During the first half, Mysore DFA’s Madhusudhan set-off the goal scoring spree for the hosts by converting the penalty gifted due to a handball by a Bijapur player.

A goal down, the visitors tried to keep their defence intact, but couldn’t hold on for long as Varun Karthik broke through the Bijapur defence and scored the second goal in the 31st minute.

Even as Bijapur were catching their breath, Patrison sent the football searing into the nets in the next minute to take the score to 3-0. Varun struck again in the 35th minute, while Praveen Raj netted in the 39th minute to end half-time at 5-0.
In the second half, Bijapur returned with a tighter defense putting pressure on the hosts.

However, they failed to break through to make any impact.

Pramod struck for the hosts in the 66th minute, while Shashank hit the final goal in the 72nd minute.

Davangere Vs Udupi

In another game, Udupi usurped Davangere to win the 7-6 in the tie-breaker. Earlier, the match ended in a tame 1-1 draw after full time with Mujhbar Ahmad scoring for Davangere in the 48th minute and Safwath netting the ball in the 76th minute. However, Udupi maintained their cool in the penalty shoot-out to emerge as the winners.

Inauguration

Earlier inaugurating the tournament by kicking off a football, MLA V Srinivasa Prasad said that preparations are underway to host an all India-level Dr B R Ambedkar Memorial Football Tournament. He said that the city had produced its share of national-level footballers.

However with Bangalore becoming the State’s capital, majority of the players shifted from Mysore, he added.
