'Mental, physical health through sports'

Speaking after inaugurating a district-level sports meet for students of Higher Primary and High Schools at Visveswaraya stadium here on Tuesday, she opined that parents should not put pressure on students for studies.

 Children should be allowed to engage themselves in sports at least for two hours a day. Sports promote mental as well as physical health, she said.
Presiding over the programme Deputy Director of Public Instruction, Prahlada Gowda said that the Department has organised the meet to tap the talents of the students. He hoped that the students bring name for the district by taking part in national and international events.

The president of district unit of Primary School Teachers Association spoke on the occasion. Narasimhaiah, the Assistant Director of Youth Services and Sports Department, the general secretary of Primary School Teachers Association Venkatashivappa were present.
Zilla Panchayat and Department of Public Instruction have jointly organised the meet.
